Margot Robbie’s Airport Look: A Blueprint for Effortless Style

Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece. Margot Robbie may be the queen of method dressing, but personally, I think her day-to-day style takes the cake.

Spotted at the Sydney airport at the end of February, theWuthering Heightsstar stepped out in a $110 Beare Park long-sleeve T-shirt and a $305 pair of now-sold-out Bermuda shorts from the same Australian brand. Together, the two staples looked exactly like the type of outfit a movie star would wear — a.k.a. something glamorous and effortless at the same time.

Robbie finished the look with mesh Mary Janes, tinted shades, and an East-West shoulder bag, nailing the casual-yet-high-fashion vibe that makes for memorable outfits. Now, I have to recreate her outfit (which, by the way, is all over my social media feeds), and I’m planning to do so with the below pieces.

While I loved Robbie’s entire outfit, her shorts were what really did me in. The breezy-as-can-be silhouette looked as comfortable as sweatpants, while the longer hems would serve as a protective barrier between my legs and any germy airplane seats — a personal ick of mine — during summer travel.

In fact, I loved her shorts so much that I put myself on their waitlist, knowing full well that I don’t have an extra $300 to spend. In the meantime, this pair from Amazon is the same in all the ways that count: They’re loose, long, and come in an easy-to-match neutral color. Plus, even the most expensive pair is only $32.

The second most important part of Robbie’s outfit? Her shirt, which I think looks a heck of a lot like my favorite Skims T-shirt. Words don’t do it justice, but “pillow-soft” and “as smooth as butter” are the descriptors that come to mind. I’ve never enjoyed wearing a shirt more than I do those from the brand’s Boyfriend Collection.

The best part about mesh Mary Janes like this pair? They have the breeziness of sandals but the protection of flats. They also “look surprisingly similar to a much more expensive brand,” according to one shopper, who likened the shoes to “champagne style on a grocery store prosecco budget.” Plus, they’re comfortable and “a little more elevated than flip-flops,” the user added.

I’m a big believer in the idea that accessories make the outfit, so an East-West shoulder bag like this BGBG option is a necessity. The crocodile-embossed texture adds a little extra something-something and, in my opinion, makes it look like you spent a lot more than just $35.
